PSDTUTS First Contest Winners Announcement
In News by Sean HodgeThe winners of the first PSDTUTS contest are in. The winning entries stand out as remarkable design work. Let's check out who walked away with the prizes. Great job to everyone who participated! We had a lot of activity in the PSDTUTS Flickr group with this contest. We'll be launching another contest shortly.
First-Place Winner
The first place winner is Alex Beltechi. He receives a one-year PSDTUTS Plus membership and $100 cash. The first design below with the fighter pilot titled "Mayday," is the winner. Numerous techniques from PSDTUTS tutorials were used to put this image together. It also has a unique theme and design.
Alex had many excellent submissions in this contest. I had trouble deciding which of his entries was the definitive winner, as so many of them are great. One from each set of his entries are presented below. He presented numerous versions within each set as well. It's great for the PSDTUTS writing staff to see the application of techniques learned here put to such great use in these designs.
Second-Place Winner
Yana55 takes second place and wins a Complete Vector or Texture Set from GoMedia's Arsenal, of the winner's choice. The design below is elegant and utilizes techniques from PSDTUTS in a subdued way. The second image below is zoomed in on the upper part of the model in the design. This is so you can see the retouch work done on the face, and the subtle flaming and lighting effects. Great job on this design!
Third-Place Winner
The third place winner is MisterBremer. He takes home $50 in FlashDen credits. Great job on this self-portrait and photography classroom composition!
Conclusion to the First PSDTUTS Contest
Congratulations to our winners! Great job to everyone that participated in the contest. We look forward to the launch of the next PSDTUTS contest. Thank-you to our sponsors GoMedia's Arsenal and our sister-site FlashDen. We've also lined up some more sponsors for the next contest. We'd also like to thank Fabio for helping Collis and I with judging this contest.
I'll be contacting the winners shortly to assist them with collecting their prizes. The winners should keep an eye on their Flickr email boxes for the next couple days.
